SERVING THE COMMUNITY

ASSOCIATION OF HARYANVIS IN AUSTRALIA

Living in a country like Australia is a privilege indeed and we are lucky to call this beautiful country home. While we fulfil our obligations and duties as responsible Indian Australians, as proud Haryanvis we also need to keep our unique culture alive, contribute to the society, celebrate our vibrant festivals and thrive as a community in Australia.

AHA - AT WORK

As Haryanvis living in Australia, we need to be there for each both in times of need as well as on occasions that call for a celebration. We have identified some key areas where the community often needs to come together to support fellow citizens.

AHA Services

At the Association of Haryanvis in Australia (AHA), we are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community. Our range of services is designed to meet the unique needs of our members, encompassing support for senior citizens, assistance for new migrants, guidance for students, and community-wide initiatives. We strive to ensure that every member of our Haryanvi community in Australia feels supported, connected, and empowered in their journey.

Senior Citizen Support

AHA has invested in Milap – a senior citizens’ centre with recreational facilities for our elders. They love spending time with fellow seniors here. Milap also serves as short-term emergency accommodation for new migrants to Australia.

New Migrant Support

New arrivals in Australia need help on several fronts – education, career, legal and more. Professionals from the AHA team are always available to guide them and provide assistance to help them settle down. Attending community festivals makes them feel at home.

Student Support

Australia is home to hundreds of students from Haryana. Changes in market, immigration laws and many other factors can affect their lives. AHA offers all kinds of support to young students to help them with advice and work opportunities.

Community Support

As Haryanvis in Australia, we are all part of the larger mainstream community and need to work toegether to face challenges such floods, drought, accidents and others. AHA is always ready to join hands with local authorities and play our part as responsible citizens.

Along with the launch of a book written by Mt Harmohan Walia, the focus of the event was on Haryana. This highly entertaining and informative evening showcased the vibrant culture of Haryana in splendid performances by visiting artists from Haryana. TEAM MEETING 2022

Annual Team Meeting 2022

AHA’s Annual Team Meeting was held in Griffith during the Easter break. It was a well- attended event with members from all AHA chapters turning up in great spirits with their lovely families. Along with all the fun activities, we also had several productive discussions and creative sessions to plan our activities, assess our challenges and finalise strategies to work through various practical and logistics issues. It was great to see full participation by all present and we’ll be sharing the details with you in the near future. A big thank you to all who took the time out and contributed to the growth and vision of AHA.

Sydney

By now even the locals at Stanwell Park should see it coming. Our favourite location for celebrating Holi was once again awash in colour, music and mirth on March 19, 2022 as AHA members and their families got together to splash loads of fun around. Not surprisingly, many locals couldn’t resist and jumped in for a memorable experience.

Melbourne

On the same day, 19th March 2022, Melbourne got a taste of India’s most popular festival around the world!. On the lovely Sandbridge Beach, Victorian AHA families and friends painted the area red, blue, green and much more. Have a look at the magic of Phaag in Melbourne.
